The Biden administration recently imposed an AI chip ban and blocked Nvidia and AMD from selling top chips for artificial intelligence to China. One of the use of these chips is for China’s elaborate surveillance system. In 2017, BBC reporter John Sudworth tested China’s digital surveillance system in the Southern City of Guiyang. The Guiyang Police found him in 7 minutes using their massive surveillance cameras and sophisticated facial recognition technology. In less than 4 years, China has almost quadrupled the # of cameras. And the CCP’s surveillance tool has become more sharpened, and the “big brother” is watching.
